What is Field Marketing?

Field Marketing is the provision of highly skilled and trained people to conduct brand-building strategic (long-term) or tactical (short-term) exercises on behalf of clients. Field Marketing delivers results and ensures brand development in terms of accountability, visibility, availability and sales.

The range of Field Marketing services:

  • Sales
  • Auditing
  • Sampling/Demonstrating
  • Merchandising
  • Roadshows / Events / Experiential Marketing
  • Mystery Shopping
  • Data & IT
  • Training

Benefits of Field Marketing

  • Face to face contact with the targeted customer is arguably the most effective way to reach them and outsourcing different aspects of field marketing can save companies millions of pounds
  • Field Marketing companies are able to offer complex and comprehensive support to a range of marketing operations, such as counteracting a competitor's campaign or increasing market distribution
  • Extensive knowledge of different industries as well as an efficient and multi-skilled task force makes these specialist companies ideal for ongoing nationwide promotions as well as one-off campaigns in small towns
  • Personnel are experienced and trained and are supported by computerised reporting systems. These systems allow for a high degree of accuracy as well as high speed reporting and compilation of data, and they ensure field marketing campaigns are fully accountable
  • Field Marketing allows fast and flexible solutions to the dynamics of the changing environment that is tailored to the needs of the client's market. Each campaign is individually designed to meet the client's objectives, so the reality is that any campaign might well involve two or more of the core disciplines. Thus field marketing works hard to maximize the client's budgets and give as much pay back as possible
fds' purpose is to be: positively contributing to the success of others

mystery shopping crowd fds marketing

And, more importantly, why do you need it?

Mystery shopping is the cost-effective method of monitoring your customer service standards, as well as several other fields of expertise. An external, unbiased source is contacted and asked to be a mystery shopper at a particular store, or for a particular brand. With the information they are provided, they enter the store and are expected to complete a number of ‘tasks’, be this from ask a member of staff for some details about a particular product to simply doing a regular, simple shop.

Once in private, the mystery shopper then fills out a report with the parameters desired by the company, such as helpfulness of staff, product placement, availability of product, atmosphere of shop, etc.

Mystery shopping is an efficient way of identifying staff in need of further training without directly being confrontational. Not only that, but it can also offer you a list of your store’s strengths and weaknesses that you may not have otherwise considered. The ‘mystery’ aspect ensures that your staff are performing naturally, making the service an effective deterrent against dishonesty, poor service or even bad practice.

As well as aspects of individual stores, mystery shopping can help to identity entire retail outlets that could do with improvement, or that need to be recognised for their fantastic customer service.

Whichever way you want to look at it, mystery shopping is an asset to any company’s growth and self-improvement, be it through praise and encouragement, or the efforts to improve on the under-achieving areas.
